Mountain and lake begin a new life

Mountain represents stillness, and can be associated either with unmoving or culmination or solidification of movement. Like a volcano rising from the folding of the earth's crust, mountain is the meditator or the person isolated in stubbornness. Lake is set in contrast to mountain. Where the mountain is a consolidation of rock, the lake pools and the gathers water and becomes clear as its impurities settle to the lake bed. Like mountain, lake is used to symbolize an aspect of human interaction. Where mountain represents the solitary, lake represents gathering. Where the lake is the marketplace and festival ground which is the delight of friendship. Where the mountain is proud upthrusting, with the danger of excessive isolation, the lake is gathering through lowness where waters run together and life springs from it. Fish swim in the currents, plants grow on the shores, and animals come to the banks to drink. The lake is concentration through pooling like a man and woman give pleasure to one another and new life can result.
